Decoiling, Slitting and Blanking

Decoiling is the process of unwinding steel coil and converting it into flat sheet or cut-to-length material. At ASD, we use decoiling as part of a wider coil-processing service to help customers get material in the form and size they need.

Slitting is the process of cutting a wide coil into narrower strips to customer specification. It’s commonly used when a project needs precise widths for further processing, fabrication or production.

Decoiling and slitting are commonly used for hot rolled, cold rolled and coated steels, and aluminium depending on the volume requirement.

Decoiling gives you a more efficient route from coil to perfect cut-to-length flat sheet, with improved flatness, and better control over waste and supply.

Slitting and blanking help reduce material waste, improve productivity and supply metal in the exact widths or lengths needed for production. At ASD we offer slitting and blanking in gauges 0.4mm – 1.5mm and up to 1500mm wide.

• Hot rolled steel from 1.6mm – 15mm thick, up to 12m long and up to 2000mm wide.  We also provide cut-to-size sheets.
• Prepainted steel from 0.4mm – 2.5mm, up to 4500mm long and 1500mm wide.
