Exciting Sustainability Updates to ASD Westok’s Cellbeam Software: New Features and Enhanced User Support

ASD Westok is thrilled to announce that we have rolled out a much-awaited update to our Westok cellular beam software, Cellbeam. This latest version, Cellbeam 10.4, has been developed by the Steel Construction Institute (SCI) and is available as a free download here. In this blog post, we take a closer look at the new features introduced in the latest version of this software and how they can be used to enhance sustainability efforts.

About Cellbeam 10.4’s Sustainability Update

The latest upgrade of our software comes with a host of new features to assist users to develop more carbon-friendly designs solutions. Here’s what you can look forward to in Cellbeam 10.4:

Carbon Calculator: This new feature allows users of the software to easily calculate and report the Modules A1–A5 and Module D embodied carbon values. Packaged in an easy-to-use format, this tool can help engineers to better understand and report the carbon savings associated with their Westok cellular beam designs.

Cross-Laminated Timber Slabs: Responding to the growing demand for sustainable and hybrid construction solutions, Cellbeam 10.4 now includes enhanced slab input options facilitating Westok cellular beams with CLT (Cross-Laminated Timber) slabs.

Improved Fire Engineering Reporting: We have streamlined our reporting on fire performance, focusing on the critical failure temperatures of the web or flange rather than the previous dual reporting format. This update more accurately reflects the performance of the Westok beam in fire.

Supporting Users Going Forward:

At ASD Westok, we also provide additional, comprehensive, free technical advisory services that support users of our software packages. Our team of Westok engineers have considerable knowledge of the commercial, embodied carbon and programme implications of design decisions. We offer direct user support and engage in design reviews and value engineering, all to help embed cost and carbon efficiency into your projects.

We are also active in education and knowledge sharing, delivering many CPD seminars each month. These sessions cover a wide array of technical and sustainability topics, with each seminar designed to suit the audience: consulting engineers, steelwork contractors, architects, cost consultants etc.

As an EXC-4 qualified structural steelwork fabricator, we offer a range of processing and fabrication services to support our customers, with the ability to supply cellular and non-cellular general Steels as combined loads, delivered at stock lengths or fully fabricated.

Our fabrication facility has automated welding, profiling and processing capabilities. As well as the manufacture and fabrication of Westok ribbon-cut beams, plate beams and box girders, we undertake a variety of fabrication work, from high-precision jig work to both light and heavy structural steelwork fabrication.

We have been actively involved in the modular sector for several years. Our expertise extends to producing component parts, sub-assemblies and fully fabricated frames painted and delivered directly to site. We offer a multidisciplinary approach, with teams reviewing the cost, programme, material procurement, buildability, fire engineering and transport aspects of the design.
