ASD Installs Solar Panels at Thurrock Site

We’re thrilled to announce that we have completed the installation of solar panels at our state-of-the-art Thurrock site. This significant step aligns perfectly with our core value of responsibility, emphasising our dedication to protecting the environment and amplifying our positive impact not just within our company but also across our network of customers, suppliers, and the broader community.

In January, we began working on this ambitious project, installing a 251kWp solar PV system. We’re proud to report that this system is now set to generate approximately 237,500kWh of clean electricity annually for our facility. This substantial output will enable the Thurrock site to achieve a remarkable self-sufficiency level, covering around 30% of its total electricity consumption.

And our commitment doesn’t stop there. We plan to utilise over 65% of the generated energy directly on site, while the surplus – about 35% – will be exported back to the national grid. This not only contributes to the wider use of renewable energy but also enhances our energy independence, providing us with greater resilience in an ever-evolving energy market.

Through this installation, we’re not just reducing the environmental impact of our operations; we are also demonstrating that sustainable practices and business efficiency can go hand in hand, and reinforcing our pledge to help build a greener, more responsible future.

Speaking about this latest development, Rob Brien, UK Operations Director, says, “I am immensely proud to speak about our latest achievement at the Thurrock site. With the successful installation of our 251kWp solar PV system, we are not just harnessing the power of the sun; we are redefining what it means to operate a world-class facility. Our Thurrock site, already known for its state-of-the-art sustainable machinery and innovative practices, is now a shining example of how renewable energy can be seamlessly integrated into operations. With this, we are also demonstrating our unwavering commitment to sustainability and our pursuit of excellence in every aspect of our business.”
